The Microchip Cat Flap From PetSafe® Staywell Simply put this cat flap has been designed to allow your cat easy access to the outside world. While keeping other troublesome cats and animals out of your house. It read the microchip implant fitted to your cat, which has a unique number. This means only cats that have had their numbers programmed will be able to get access which helps to keep out unwanted stray cats. Installation is standard you create the correct size hole then the cat doors tunnel passes through the hole as shown in the video below.
Can the microchip door be used with more than one cat?
Yes, this version can be set up to allow access for up to 40 cats and normally works with existing microchips.
Can the microchip door be used in a glass door?
Cat Flap Installation into a glass door is achieved with the use of a glass adapter. Yes, it is possible, but you will probably need a glazier to organise the glass unit with a hole in.
What happens when the microchip batteries go flat?
When the batteries come to the end of there life simply replace the batteries, and away you go no reprogramming required.
This Staywell Microchip Cat Flap requires four alkaline AA batteries (LR6) for operation. Batteries are not included with your cat flap and need to be ordered separately. Please always use new good quality batteries for best results. To install batteries, remove the battery cover from the top of the interior frame, set aside the hardware pack, and place the batteries in the proper direction. Once installed, the green LED will quickly flash three times, indicating the cat flap is in Automatic Mode and is ready for programming. When the batteries come to the end of there life replace the batteries and away you go no reprogramming required. There is a low battery indicator that will show up well before the end of battery life if the batteries do die, then the door auto locks. Do not use non-rechargeable batteries or lithium batteries.
Quick Instructions How-To Operate
This is not a programmable door; instead, it works on the standard 4-way locking system that exists in most Staywell doors. Options are out only | in only | both ways or not at all. This cat flap is the first one in the range, and the 4-way control button has simple to follow arrows, as shown in the picture above.
The PetSafe® Microchip Cat Flap works by reading your cat’s unique microchip ID without the need for a collar or accessory. Available in two colours white and brown complete with adaptors for glass and tunnels for walls.

Please note - the read range on this unit is 10cm - 12cm - measured from outside of flap (the material the cat flap is fitted into may reduce this, e.g. metal reinforced doors). Also, if the door panel is reinforced with metal, the range of the chip scanner will be affected. To resolve this issue if you discover metal, you should also fit the flap using the Petsafe glass/wall adaptor.

Glass units need to be produced by a glass fabrication factory the hole needs to be cut in the glass before it is toughened. Existing glass can not be cut.
Please note for metal doors, doors reinforced with metal or reinforced panels with a foil sheet on the plywood reinforcement, you will need to cut a 260mm diameter hole and use the Petsafe Glass adaptor (PAC54-16246) OR you can buy a replacement door panel, available in 20mm, 24mm & 28mm, from our website. Our replacement panels do not have any metal in them.
